• Doctorate (Dr. phil.) with Prof. Dr. Herbert Gottwald at the University of Jena with a historical dissertation awarded two academic prizes(1996)
• Doctorate (Dr. jur.) with Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Klaus Tiedemann at the University of Freiburg with a dissertation on economic criminal law (2001)
